Language Flagship Scholarships
Admitted UW-Madison Russian Flagship students in good standing who are citizens or permanent residents of the United States are eligible to apply for merit-based Language Flagship Scholarships administered through the UW-Madison Russian Flagship Program to support:
- participation in the academic yearlong Overseas Russian Flagship Program in Saint Petersburg
- summer study in Russia on designated programs of American Councils for International Education, to meet the requirement for 6-week minimum study in Russian prior to the Overseas Russian Flagship Program
- intensive summer Russian language study at Flagship-designated programs in the United States
Students who apply for Language Flagship scholarships must apply for other sources of support as well.
Annual application deadline: April 5 (new deadline!)
The Language Flagship of the National Security Education Program (NSEP) at the U.S. Department of Defense provides funding to the UW-Madison for these scholarships.
Important: Funding for Language Flagship Scholarships is limited, based upon the amount that the UW-Madison receives in given year to support the Language Flagship Scholarships, and on the number of eligible students who apply. Beginning with the Spring 2012, Russian Flagship students who have not entered a profile in the Student Certification System will not be eligible for Language Flagship scholarships. Students must keep their information in the Student Certification System updated. Update your student profile now >
